Best Waterproof Cast Cover

The right waterproof cast cover will allow you to shower, bathe and swim – as well as maintain more independence until your cast comes off. Trust me, I’ve been there: using a plastic trash bag & tape just won’t do the job for you.

Here's my #1 waterproof cast cover recommendation: the DryPro Waterproof Cast Cover on Amazon. I love it because it's made with surgical grade latex in the USA, has a patented vacuum seal and a unique non-slip grid on the sole!

When you’re choosing a waterproof cast cover there are two basic types: cast covers for showering or cast covers for swimming. Let’s talk about their differences so you can buy wisely:

Waterproof Cast Cover for Shower

It’s amazing how being able to do a normal, everyday thing like showering or bathing improves your quality of life. That’s why everyone needs a waterproof cast cover for showering that they can reuse until their cast come off.

Get a quality reusable waterproof cast cover for showering that has a secure sealing mechanism like a rubber seal, Velcro or air pump. You’ll be able to shower and keep your cast dry. And waterproof cast covers for showering are relatively inexpensive too. It’s such a little thing, but a reusable waterproof cast cover will really improve the quality of your life.

And don’t forget, you’ll also want to keep your cast clean and protected by using a knee scooter instead of crutches. Yes, crutches are awkward, clunky and you can lose your balance. Not to mention that they’re uncomfortable to use. That’s why many people are using a fun & sporty knee scooter as an alternative to crutches.

I highly recommend the All Terrain Knee Scooter by KneeRover on Amazon for several important reasons: it features 12" pneumatic tires, adjustable locking rear brakes with fully adjustable knee platform and height adjustable handle bars. It's specially designed to safely scoot around your home or over grass, gravel, gaps in sidewalks & other outdoor surfaces.

The All Terrain Knee Scooter by KneeRover also has a generous 400lb weight capacity and is styled in a snazzy blue color. And I love the built-in basket!

Waterproof Cast Cover for Swimming

If you like to swim to stay active, or you’re going on vacation, you’ll definitely want to choose a waterproof cast cover for swimming. Yes, if you go into the pool or ocean, you’ll need to get a waterproof cast cover that specially designed to remain waterproof during active swimming.

In order to make sure your cast doesn’t get wet or damaged during swimming you’ll have to measure your arm or leg to make sure you buy the right sized waterproof cast cover. And I always tell my readers to let someone else measure you, to make sure the measurements are accurate.

Whether your need an arm or leg waterproof cast cover, you’ll need to take a measurement of the circumference of your leg or arm. Don’t measure your bandages or cast! If you measure your cast, you’ll buy the wrong size waterproof cast cover for swimming – and it will leak! Just measure the circumference of your arm or leg – at the spot above your bandages or cast.

Next, you’ll want to take a measurement of the length of either your leg or arm. For your arm, you’ll just want to measure from the upper end of your cast down to the tip of your middle finger. And for your leg, you’ll want to measure from base of your heel up to the top of the bandages or cast.

You may see that the manufacturer’s measurement of their waterproof cast cover for swimming is longer than your own leg or arm measurement. Don’t worry if this happens. You’ll see that any waterproof cast cover will shrink slightly, when you use its vacuum seal. And a little bit of extra length won’t matter.

If you follow these measurement instructions carefully, you’ll be able to properly fit your waterproof cast cover for swimming.
