Lighted Walking Cane Reviews

I wrote this lighted walking cane review page to help you find the best mobility aid for you. Or your loved one. And I share my advice on measuring, at the bottom of this page, to make sure your cane is the proper & safe height, so you can prevent falls and injury.

Best All-Around Lighted Walking Cane: I highly recommend the Pathfinder Lighted Cane on Amazon for anyone who needs a cane!  You can walk confidently in the dark, on uneven surfaces & on stairs.  I love the fact that it's easily adjustable and it's offset handle makes it very stable. And although the Pathfinder Lighted Cane on Amazon technically not a foldable cane, it does  come apart so you can pack it in a suitcase or bag.

Best Lighted Quad Cane Review:

Are you someone who likes, or needs to use, a quad cane? As you know, a quad cane is a 4 prong cane that will offer you more balance help than a standard walking cane.

I highly recommend the My Cane Lighted Quad Cane on Amazon.

Then you’ll want to take a look at this quad base lighted walking cane review to learn more:

I really recommend the My Cane which is a lighted walking cane with a quad base. Why? Well, lighted canes with quad bases offer more balance support while you walk. AND lighted canes with a quad base stand up on their own. I just love the convenience of a stand alone cane – especially a stand alone lighted walking cane! Just use a cane with light when you need it, and just leave it standing, and it frees up your hand, when you don’t need it.

And this My Cane Lighted Walking Cane on Amazon has a bright LED light, weighs only 1.2lbs and it’s foldable! When you don’t need it, just fold up this lighted cane and tuck it in your purse, glove compartment, bag, etc.

Best Self Defense Lighted Walking Cane: A taser in a cane? You bet. If you want a lighted cane, but would also like some personal protection, I highly recommend this Zap Self Defense Cane on Amazon! I love that it has a nice flashlight, it's Made in the USA, easily adjusts in height and has a 1 million volt charge stun gun built right into it. You can get this Zap Self Defense Cane at Amazon.

How to Compare Lighted Walking Canes

A lighted walking cane is a great choice if you need a little help with balance, or light support, when you're walking.  It'll help you balance and also provide light so you can clearly see the path ahead of you.

Lighted walking canes are really great for getting in and out of the car.Lighted Canes are Great for Getting In a Car

Yes, canes with flash lights are helpful at night - but they are also a huge help in the daytime too! You may have noticed that steps tend to be dimly lit - which can be tricky. And if you're walking on thick carpet or on an uneven outdoor path, the extra light makes walking much safer. And it will make getting in and out of the car much easier too!

When you compare lighted walking canes, you'll want to decide if you want an adjustable or non-adjustable model.

Adjustable canes are the easiest to buy & use because they easily adjust to your own proper cane height.

Non-adjustable canes must be either sized for you by the manufacturer or you must size it yourself, when you get it home. To resize your lighted cane, you'll need to take the tip off, cut/saw the extra length off the shaft, then put the tip back on.

Also, you might want to think about whether you'd like a folding or non-folding lighted walking cane. Folding canes are great if you travel a lot. They easily fold up into your suitcase or travel bag. But if you consistently need a cane, and would not feel comfortable without it at your side, a non-folding cane is probably your best choice.

Also, do you want this cane for it's ability to safely light you way, or do you also  want it for self-protection? There are some new lighted canes available that are outfitted with a small stun gun to ward off dangers! Like animals or thieves.

How to Measure for a Your Cane

No matter what cane you decide on, just remember that it's very important to make sure your cane is the proper height. If you cane is too tall or too short, you'll increase your risk of falling or injuring yourself.

Here's an easy way to measure:

Stand up in a relaxed but straight position. Wear the normal walking shoes that you wear everyday. Hang your arms at your side.

Here I am to show you how to measure for a cane.

You'll see a crease/wrinkle where your hand meets your arm, right above your thumb - and that's where your proper cane height is. Here's my photo to show you:

Have someone measure from the floor up to the crease/wrinkle in your wrist. It's important to have someone else measure so that you'll be able to keep your wrist still.

The top of your cane should be the same height as the point on your wrist where you hand meets your arm. And you can round up to the nearest half inch if you have to.

And don't forget that if you have a disability, injury, or have had recent surgery, you doctor or physical therapist can recommend a special walking pattern for you, cane style or answer any other questions.
