Best Compact Rolling Walker

Choosing the best compact rolling walker will give you more freedom than if you were using a standard medical walker. You’ll be able to walk faster.  And you can sit down, using the handy built-in seat, whenever you need to take a break.

And you can see my top recommended compact rolling walker: the Comodita Brava Compact Rolling Walker on Amazon.

Unlike a standard walker, that needs to be lifted as you take each step, you push a rolling walker ahead of you, at the walking pace you find most comfortable. So you’ll walk more naturally and smoothly.

I highly recommend the Comodita Brava Compact Rolling Walker available on Amazon. And here's why:  it weighs only 18 lbs, easily folds up in its own transportation bag, is competitively priced, but I think it's still built like a tank.

The Comodita Brava Compact Rolling Walker has extra large 8" wheels with rubber tires for superior gripping & security on indoor and outdoor surfaces. Including carpet!

It also has easily adjustable handles, padded seat, back rest and reliable brakes. I especially like the thick fabric carrying pouch that allows you to discreetly take items with you. And you can check Amazon's price on the Comodita Brava Compact Rolling Walker.

Compact rolling walkers are a very wise choice for those who are active or like to travel. Because they are smartly designed, they’re lightweight and quickly fold up. Many models weight less than 20 lbs (!) and they only take a few seconds to fold up into a car trunk, backseat  - or a its own travel bag. Genius.

Bariatric Rolling Walker or Heavy Duty Walker

Most compact rolling walker models support up to 300 lbs. But, if you’re taller or bigger, like many of us, you’ll want to get a heavy duty walker or bariatric rolling walker.

You’ll get the same modern design, attractive colors and features, but you’ll also get a cleverly designed frame that’s wider and subtly reinforced. For those of us who are larger or taller, a compact bariatric rolling walker is a great choice.

If you're taller, or have a larger frame, my top pick is the Comodita Prima Heavy-Duty Rolling Walker on Amazon!

It has all the snazzy styling - and great colors - that their standard rolling walkers have, but with subtle, understated reinforcements to make it comfortable and safe.

The Comodita Prima Heavy-Duty rolling walker has a slightly wider frame to fit comfortably with your body and it can support up to 400 lbs. And yes, it has a padded seat, back rest, reliable brakes and the handles adjust to your height.

Really, a heavy duty walker is styled so similarly to a standard compact rolling walker, they look virtually identical.

Just because you’re taller, or have a larger frame, doesn’t mean you need to skimp on style or attractive options when you choose a heavy duty walker.

Compact Rolling Walkers Replacement Hand Grips

Once you've found the best compact rolling walker for you, you'll wonder how you ever got along without it. But, as the months and years go by, you'll see the wear and tear on your rolling walker hand grips.

You might see some holes, chips, tears or cracks on your compact rolling walker hand grips. That's just normal wear & tear.

And I've heard from readers that some of the rolling walker hand grips are too hard to hold. Some hand grips contract & get harder, with age. And that makes it hard to use them - especially if you've got arthritis or weakness in your hands.

But don't worry - you don't need a brand new compact rolling walker - you just need to replace your hand grips. New hand grips on your rolling walker really give you added comfort and style!

I love the purple Crutcheze walker hand grip cover set because it's stylish and its a universal size that will fit all walkers!

Buying Tips for Compact Rolling Walkers

Always check the maximum weight capacity of any compact rolling walker you’re considering. Most standard rolling walkers will support up to 300 lbs, but a heavy duty model can support up to 500 lbs. Make sure you match your body weight to right model.

Don’t forget to check to make sure the rolling walker is height adjustable – and that your own height matches the recommended user height. Yes, when you get your rolling walker home, you’ll want to adjust it to your own height. But, before you buy, check the manufacturer’s specs to see if your own height is within their recommended user height guidelines.

I always like to double check the overall weight of the walker. My advice is to make sure it’s light enough for you, or your helpmate, to fold/unfold, or put into a car or trunk.

Back in the day, rolling walkers used to have hard metal or plastic wheels & tires. Truthfully, they were hard to push, especially over carpet. But many of the newer models have rubber tires, which I highly recommend. Rubber tires really grip surfaces, in both indoor and outdoor settings, and they are very smooth on carpet too.

Don’t forget to check out the built-in seat. Personally speaking, I recommend choosing a padded seat versus a plastic, molded seat. A padded seat is just so much more comfortable.

And, this may seem like a small thing, but I really recommend getting a model with a fabric pouch or bag – rather than an open basket. A lot of us like to maintain a sense of privacy, and we like the fabric bags that don’t allow everyone else to see what we’re carrying around. A hidden storage area/bag, in my opinion is important for dignity.
